Gill Aysegul Birol was born in Istanbul Turkey. She received her BA in Applied Fine Arts from Marmara University. She has won numerous awards from all around the world as the Art Director of her own multimedia company.
Her ultimate passion as an artist is jewellery design and this aspiration became a reality after relocating to Boston U.S.A., in 1997. As a self taught jeweler Gill took workshops and weekend classes and became a prolific designer with number exhibits under her belt. In 2001 she moved to Toronto and owned and operated a craft gallery in Beaches district from 2004 to 2008. She has participated in the Beach studio tour, One of a Kind show, and Toronto outdoor art show, on and off for over 10 years.
Gill now is one of the jewellers at Made you Look, a local Toronto art gallery and artist workshop, creating her own collections and working on special orders. Her jewellery can be found in the Craft Ontario shop in Yorkville, Center shop in the Harbour Front center, Petroff Gallery, and Made You Look at Queen West.
Gill combines the ancient and the contemporary to bring forth unique, wearable art forms. Her palette is a combination of strong architectural designs and vivid well-informed colour decisions. Gill says, “my creative style is constantly evolving… discovering and working with new materials is my daily inspiration.”  Recently, she has been preoccupied with attending classes offered by masters like Dan Cormier and Jeffrey  Lloyd Dever.
